GRAVEYARD JACKSON DVLB 1991

RORA RECORDS has reisused GRAVEYARD JACKSON'S 1st cassette recording on CD.  This is the original 12-song cassette from 1990 sessions on DEVILBEAT RECORDS in 1991.  All the Graveyard Jackson grit and wit are captured here with his slashing dobro accompaniment.  'BLUES POSSESSION' opens this set with a great storyteller tune. 'PAY DAY BLUES' is next with a nice folky feel and is about living from pay check to pay check and cashing in on judgement day.   The short but bittersweet *'HIGH HEEL BLUES' is a classic dobro-vocal lament.  'SECRETS TO THE WIND' tells of lost love and secrets left unspoken.  These storys continue with the original version of 'ANYTHING FOR MONEY'.  A tale of too many women follows in 'THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG'.  The gothic & melodramatic tunes continue with 'THE ROOM UPSTAIRS' which is a twisted laullabye that pulls a tear.  A taste of the supernatural in 'SHAPESHIFTER BLUES' is both chilly & hysterical as is the great wit of this blues hipster.  'TONIGHT(WHEN I LAY DOWN)' is a unique blues moan and groan tune about that 'knockout drink".  'WHOREHOUSE BLUES' is a walk on the sleasy side with lotsa sleasy slide dobro and tell all lyrics.  Psychedelic country blues in the form of 'I DON'T WANT TO KNOW' reels with tons of echo and heartbreaking lyrics and vocals.  The last song 'SOUL SECLUSION' is a look inside the loneliness that holds to the traveler down this murky blues highway.
